The Olympic rainforest is green for a reason.....it's wet!

The stage is set with two city slickers, two country boys, 8 miles of trail, 2000' vertical feet and 2" of rain. Cousin Scott and son Cole plus recent Forks transplant Eric headed into the Seven Lakes Basin. Hmmm....to get over this city label, must I really wear cotton in the rain?! No this is not a fair generalization....it was just my cousin :)

Anyway, cotton or no, Cole was still in good hands....a photo of that for his mother and grandmother!

Our destination was Lunch Lake, milepost 8.

The trail goes through here somewhere.....

The impressive Sol Duc Falls.

We came out after 2 days and one night, wet but in high spirits. Partly for the smug fact that we must have passed about 6 parties heading up to the area we vacated and the rain forecast was 2 to 4 inches! Our time was soggy but great.

All right-- cousin Scott is a poster boy for the needs for REI to land in the far NW. With an average rainfall of what-- 120 inches a year-- and they wear garbage bags?
G'ma was quite worried about Cole but he looks to be in fine shape! The scenery was amazing!! And it's obviously agreeing with Eric over there!
